Packaging and Shipping Process
When dealing with sensitive marine life such as corals, the shipping method used is very important. GHI Corals utilizes a shipping strategy designed to ensure the safe and secure transport of your corals..
One of the key components of our shipping method is the use of thick insulated boxes. These boxes are made to maintain a stable temperature during transit, which is crucial for the health and vitality of corals. Temperature fluctuations can lead to stress and mortality in corals, making insulation a critical factor in our shipping process.Inside the box we us bubble wrap as an additional layer of cushioning that absorbs shocks and impacts that may occur during shipping. The bubble wrap also acts as an extra layer of insulation to further stabilize temps during shipping.
In addition to insulated boxes, we implement in-bag coral protection as needed. Each coral is carefully packaged in a secure bag(s) or containers that minimizes movement and potential damage during transit. This helps protect fragile corals from breaking during transit.
Depending on the season and the destination, we include heat packs or cold packs as needed. Heat packs are used during colder months to help prevent freezing while cold packs are used in warmer conditions to avoid overheating. This dual approach helps ensures that the corals remain within their optimal temperature range and adds a safety net in the event of a delay.
Finally, we utilize UPS Next Day Air for our shipping needs. This expedited service mean that our corals arrive at their destination within 24 hours, significantly reducing the time they spend in transit. Minimizing shipping time is crucial for maintaining coral health, as prolonged exposure to suboptimal conditions can lead to increased mortality rates.
In conclusion, the shipping methods used at GHI Corals are designed with the utmost care and precision. By utilizing thick insulated boxes, in-bag coral protection, extra bubble wrap, temperature control measures, and expedited shipping through UPS Next Day Air, we ensure that our corals arrive healthy and vibrant, ready to thrive in their new environments.
